Coopertown Middle School: Home of the Eagles!

Blue Ribbon Schools
The faculty and staff of Coopertown Middle School are proud of their selection as a 2006 Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School of Excellence.  Coopertown Middle School is the only school in Tennessee selected at this time.

The Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Schools of Excellence is an organization established for the purpose of improving academic excellence for all children.  This is accomplished through the identification of successful schools across the nation.  The Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence (BRSE) utilizes the criteria developed from twenty years of research with the former USDOE National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.  BRSE has developed a Blueprint for Excellence assessment that is applied to any school seeking this designation.

Coopertown Middle School was evaluated by a visiting team in May 2006.  The team looked at academic programs and test results data to determine the selection.  The programs developed by the school represent a strong commitment to the academic and social success of all students.  The programs were researched and developed to create a learning environment based on established "best practices."

Representatives from the faculty and staff traveled to Charleston, South Carolina to receive the award at the Blue Ribbon Schools Blueprint for Excellence Conference on November 29th-December 3rd, 2006.  Faculty members continue to attend the annual conference and provide additional professional development to the school.

Coopertown Middle School will be evaluated for continuing designation as a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School of Excellence in the 2010-2011 school year.
