Christmas Party and Stockings

5th Grade Christmas Parties

Christmas Parties are scheduled for Friday, December 19, at 9:15 a.m. Students will only attend school for half a day that day. Prior to the party, students will watch a movie. Students who have work that is not complete will not be allowed to attend the movie. Please sign the attached permission slip indicating your permission for your child to view a PG movie, and your understanding of the completed work policy mentioned above.

Food: We are asking students to bring in breakfast items to share during the party. A sign up sheet will be passed around later in the week for students to indicate the food item they will bring. If you have something special you would like to contribute, please let your child know so they can list it on the sign-up sheet.

Gifts: 5th graders will not do a traditional boy/girl gift exchange. Instead, we are having a stocking gift exchange. We are asking all students to bring in a stocking by Monday, December 8. Between Wednesday, December 10 and Thursday, December 18, students may bring small gifts to put in everyone’s stocking. These gifts do not have to be wrapped. Please be sure your child’s name is on his/her stocking.
Examples of these gifts are: small decorative erasers, special pencils, bracelets, stickers, party favors, yoyos, individually wrapped candy, etc. ***Candy cannot be brought in before December 18. ***

Parents, if you would like to help serve the food, we would greatly appreciate your attendance.

Thank you,
Fifth Grade Teachers

Tuck Everlasting Books

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Dear Parents,

We are excited about beginning the upcoming novel, Tuck Everlasting. However, we did not receive the number of books at the Book Fair that we expected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

We have been searching diligently, trying to find the book from another source. Most sources we found were considerably more expensive than the cost the CMS Book Fair offered.

We did, finally, find enough copies of the book from Scholastic. They have agreed to make a special shipment for the remainder of the books. The cost will be the same, $ 3.28, per book. We will preorder the books, so please send money to pay for your book as soon as possible. You may send cash, or a check made out to CMS.

You are welcome to pick up your own copy locally. However, you will find that the price is considerably higher from other sources.

Thank you for your support.
