Professional Learning Communities
Committed People Working Together to Accomplish What Could Not be Done
Alone

Robertson County Schools have committed to changing the culture of our schools by functioning as Professional Learning Communities. The culture of a Professional Learning Community involves:
               A Focus on Learning
A Collaborative Culture with a Focus on Learning for All
Collective Inquiry Into Best Practice and Current Reality
               Action Orientation: Learning by Doing
               A Commitment to Continuous Improvement
               Results Orientation

Professional Learning Communities is not a new initiative or program but rather a different way of doing things. The focus on student learning is centered around answering four basic questions:
    1. What do we want students to learn? (power standards)
    2. How will we know when students have learned it?
(common formative assessments)
    3. How will we respond when students do not learn it?
(extra time & support)
    4. How will we respond to students that do learn it?
(enrichment)

This commitment involves everyone that touches the lives of students on a daily basis. Professional Learning Communities allow teachers and administrators to establish: common ground, a clear and focused purpose, effective monitoring, and a collaborative process that leads to better results.

The links provided on this site are designed to provide resources for administrators and teachers as they journey through this process. There is also a link to celebrate the progress and achievements of schools as they change the culture of learning.
